SeaRoc Group has completed the first specialist marine coordination training for Japanese offshore wind personnel.
Two team members from Hokutaku, a Japan-based wind turbine maintenance company, attended an intensive five-day course which took place in the UK at SeaRoc’s offices in Chichester and Specialist Marine Consultants’ (SMC) Hunmanby training center.
The attendees, now the first trained marine coordinators in Japan, learned about the techniques and practices in marine coordination and were provided training on SeaRoc’s SeaPlanner Marine Management System.
“The offshore wind market in Japan is poised to enter a new phase of project construction,” said Steve Pears , Managing Director at SeaRoc Group.
“We are pleased that Hokutaku are taking the proactive step to prepare their trained turbine maintenance teams to enter this new phase and support offshore operations in wind farm construction. As new markets emerge in large scale offshore wind construction emerge – from the US to France to Asia – it is essential that local personnel are fully trained to manage safe and effective offshore operations.”
The initiative is the first in a number of international courses planned under the management of SeaRoc’s Consultancy team, who is covering the topic in a series of seminars in Asia in cooperation with Tokyo Marine Insurance and Class NK.
