Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and SkySpecs have signed an agreement for autonomous drone inspections of Siemens Gamesa wind turbine blades both onshore and offshore.

The agreement was signed on Tuesday, 26 September, during the Global Wind Summit in Hamburg.

SkySpecs, a provider of robotic solutions for the wind energy industry, has so far inspected and analyzed over 33,000 wind turbine blades. The company’s fully automated drone solution comprises the flight automation software on the drone and Horizon, cloud-based data analytics, management, and planning software.

Earlier this summer, SkySpecs carried out blade inspections on Ørsted’s Burbo Bank Extension wind farm off the coast of Liverpool Bay, UK.
