Subsea excavation specialist Rotech Subsea has completed two scopes of work in Vietnam for an undisclosed offshore energy contractors.
The Aberdeen-based contractor put its TRS2 controlled flow excavation (CFE) tool to work offshore Vietnam on a freespan correction scope before a follow-on contract saw its RS1 tool deployed on a cable post-trenching job.
After recently setting up Rotech Subsea Asia – a Kuala Lumpur-based entity, the company has established a new service base there too. One RS1 and two TRS2 excavators are said to be available for mobilisation within the region.
Director of Subsea, Stephen Cochrane , said: “ The two big Vietnam scopes of work are prime examples of Rotech Subsea establishing itself as the partner of choice in the region not just for cable trenching and deburial but for IRM scopes too – where Rotech has earned a reputation as having the most effective remedial tools on the market .
“ Having seen the market repeatedly choose to import our CFE spreads from the UK over using alternatives available in-region, it’s the natural next step to set up a permanent equipment base in Asia to house our new range of RS spreads, ” added Cochrane.
“With word spreading that Rotech Subsea now has a permanent base there backed up by an extremely experienced team, we have been inundated with enquiries and look forward to becoming a growing presence in the market.”
