Japanese shipping giant Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line) signed a seven-year contract with Total Gas & Power Chartering, a unit of France’s Total, for a newbuild LNG carrier.

The contract includes a one-year extension option, NYK Line said in its statement.

The new vessel will be built by the South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries and is due to be delivered in 2021.

In its filing to the stock exchange, SHI said the order is valued at just over 200 billion won ($180 million).

The LNG carrier will be equipped with a WinGD-made dual-fuel slow-speed diesel engine and can operate on marine gas oil or boil off gas stored in the cargo tank.

The cargo tank will be a 174,000 cubic meter capacity GTT Mark III flex membrane-type tank capable of suppressing the boil-off rate.

In addition, the new carrier will feature a re-liquefaction system that can use surplus boil-off gas effectively, NYK Line said.
