China’s Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has received an order for five Capesize bulkers from compatriot shipping company Shandong Shipping.
According to data provided by Clarksons, the deal, which was signed a few weeks ago, includes an option for another five units.
To feature 180,000 dwt, the newbuildings are expected to join their owner starting from the second quarter of 2020 into 2021.
These ships are all reported to be fixed on long term charter contracts to Germany’s RWE.
Financial details of the orders were not disclosed.
