Chinese CSIC Leasing has ordered the construction of four Capesize bulkers at Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Industry, according to Intermodal’s weekly reports.
The quartet is scheduled for delivery in 2020, data from Asiasis confirms.
The ships have secured 10-year time charters with German RWE Supply & Trading GmbH. They are being ordered in combination with five Capesize bulker newbuilds RWE chartered in from Shandong Shipping on ten years.
The newbuilds have been ordered from China’s Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding under a deal which includes an option for another five units.
To feature 180,000 dwt, the newbuildings are expected to join their owners in 2020.
Financial details of the orders were not disclosed.
The vessels will be scrubber ready and will meet the NOx Tier III requirements, Intermodal said.
