EMEC starts forming ITEG ranks

The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) is looking for professionals that will work on the EU-backed project aiming to demonstrate how predictable renewable tidal energy combined with hydrogen can enable decarbonisation across the electricity, heat and transport sectors.

The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) is looking for professionals that will work on the EU-backed project aiming to demonstrate how predictable renewable tidal energy combined with hydrogen can enable decarbonization across the electricity, heat and transport sectors.

Namely, as part of the €11 million Iterreg NWE-funded project called Integrating Tidal Energy into the European Grid (ITEG) , EMEC is seeking to hire an Instrument & Controls Engineer, Operations Technician, and Hydrogen Development Officer.

The scope of work for the Instrument & Controls Engineer position includes developing the instrument and control system for EMEC’s hydrogen and electrical assets within the ITEG project that brings together partners from the UK , France , Belgium and the Netherlands to develop an integrated solution for generating clean predictable energy.

The post is open for applications until October 25, 2018.

As Operations Technician working on the ITEG project, the successful candidate will be provide assistance in the assembly, installation and commissioning of all hydrogen assets.

Also, the responsibilities for the position – which closes for applications on October 22, 2018 – include delivering planned service and maintenance for all hydrogen equipment.

In order to support the delivery of its hydrogen strategy, the Orkney-based center is also on the search for Hydrogen Development Officer , that will work in partnership with EMEC’s clients and other external stakeholders to identify funding or commercial opportunities, and contribute to business development proposals.

Due date to apply for this position has been set for October 24, 2018, according to EMEC.

Led by EMEC, the ITEG project will set up an onshore energy management system at the Fall of Warness tidal test site to enable the production of hydrogen by an AREVA H2Gen electrolyser , which will be powered by Scotrenewables Tidal Power ‘s streamlined 2MW floating tidal energy converter – the SR2-2000 .
