Oslo-listed offshore vessel owner GC Rieber Shipping has won a contract for its Polar Queen offshore construction vessel.

In a stock exchange filing on Thursday, GC Rieber said the charter was with a Tier 1 client, however, it did not disclose the client’s identity.

The charter holds two firm periods, one period of 45 days plus options with start of operations shortly. The second firm period is for 50 days and is scheduled to begin in February 2019.

The 110.6 meters long vessel, equipped an Uptime active motion compensated gangway will be used to perform walk-to-work duties and accommodation services.

“This charter further strengthens GC Rieber Shipping’s backlog, securing a contract coverage of 92% for the fourth quarter of 2018,” GC Rieber said.

According to VesselsValue, the Polar Queen is currently anchored in Aberdeen, Scotland.

The vessel had been sold out for the summer season 2018, after the owner in February this year announced a deal with an unnamed client for walk-to work duties in the UK North Sea.
