SeaBird Exploration, a marine seismic acquisition provider, has won a contract extension for one of its seismic vessels working in the Gulf of Mexico.
SeaBird Exploration said in a stock exchange filing on Monday the contract extension was secured for the Osprey Explorer vessel.
The vessel is currently working on an OBN survey in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico that began in late August.
The initial survey contract was awarded on June 25 and had a duration of 60 days. This new 30-day extension brings the firm period charter to a total of 90 days.
The 1985-built Osprey Explorer joined SeaBird’s fleet in August 2006 after being converted to 2D long offset/source vessel in Poland.
In related company news, SeaBird’s obtained support from an oil major in the form of a pre-funding commitment for its multi-client North West Europe 2D survey project conducted in partnership with MultiClient GeoPhysical.
Also, the project scope was increased, leading to a suspension for the 2018 season, slated for restart next year.
