Croatian-flagged tanker Pomer, which had been detained in the port of Gladstone, Australia, since October 12, has been released earlier today, Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) told World Maritime News.
The owner of the vessel Uljanik Plovidba informed on Monday that the ship was held over delayed salaries to the ship’s crew. However, the company pointed out that the outstanding wages had been paid before the ship arrived to the port.
“AMSA received reports that crew members on the Pomer, a Croatian flagged tanker, were not being paid wages on a monthly basis according to employment agreements,” AMSA said, confirming the detainment of the ship.
“AMSA can confirm that all wages were paid prior to the vessel’s arrival in Australia. The Pomer was released today and can now continue its voyage after AMSA accepted the Rectification Action Plan.”
The 2011-built Pomer has left Gladstone and is underway using engine, heading toward Townsville, Australia, based on the latest data from Marine Traffic.
The Croatian company has yet to reply to WMN to requests for comments.
Uljanik Plovidba has nine ships in its fleet, four dry bulkers and five tankers.
