South Korea’s Kogas Sep LNG sales rise 8.9 pct on year

South Korean state-owned Korea Gas Corp’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) sales rose 8.9 percent year-on-year in September.

Kogas sold 1.84 million tonnes last month, compared to 1.69 million tonnes in September 2017, the world’s second-largest corporate buyer of LNG said in a regulatory filing.

Compared to the previous month, September LNG sales dropped 20 percent.

Of the total sales in September, LNG sales to the power generation sector rose 13.2 percent to 0.94 million tonnes.

City gas sales reached 0.89 million tonnes in the month under review, 5.1 percent above the corresponding month in 2017.

Kogas operates in total 72 LNG storage tanks in South Korea. It imports about 96 percent of Korea’s LNG demand via its four terminals, namely Incheon, Pyeongtaek, Tongyeong and Samcheok.
