Norwegian shipbuilder Havyard has delivered a sixth anchor-handling vessel to the Brazilian shipping company Grupo CBO.

Havyard said on Friday that the result of the cooperation with CBO were reliable and cost-efficient vessels adapted to Brazilian conditions with greater width and deck capacity.

A total of six Havyard 843 anchor-handling vessels have now been delivered to the Brazilian shipping company.

The contract for four vessels was signed in 2014 and a deal for a further two in 2016 . The contracts with the Brazilian shipping company were the result of Havyard increasing its focus on the South American market, beginning in 2011.

The first contract between Grupo CBO and Havyard was, at the time, the single biggest contract entered into by Havyard Design & Solutions with an approximate value of NOK 180 million ($21.6 million at current conversion rates). The deal for the two additional vessels was valued at more than NOK 80 million ($9.63 million at current rates).

Havyard Group CEO Geir Johan Bakke said: “Cooperating with Grupo CBO has been extremely educational and exciting. Through good communication and a mutual understanding with CBO, we have been able to deliver a product that both parties are very pleased with.”

Havyard added that, among other things, Norwegian Control Systems AS delivered navigation and communication equipment and complete electrical engineering services for the vessels.
