Manor Renewable Energy (MRE) Ltd is preparing to construct a second wind farm service vessel (WFSV) at its fabrication and engineering facility in Portland, UK.
The UK-based company announced in February that it had received a GBP 50,000 grant from the SCORE fund to help design a sister vessel to Manor Venture .
The new vessel will also be built in conjunction with Walker Marine Design, fully classed by Bureau Veritas and UK-flagged.
According to Operations Director Leif Cooper, the company has adapted and modified the Manor Venture design from lessons learned over the last 18 months, but the core design and operational ethos remain the same.
”This is a vessel that will be able to work anywhere in Europe and has the capability to stay offshore on the next generation of wind farm projects for prolonged periods; minimising the transit time, reducing costs and massively increasing the productivity,” Cooper said.
The new-build vessel will have a maximum speed of 25kn, a tank with a 45t capacity and extensive workable deck space and craneage, the company said.
It will have the capacity to accommodate 24 staff for direct personnel transfer operations or alternatively for more project related scopes, as well as onboard capacity for 18 persons.
MRE expects the vessel to be delivered in the latter part of next year.
