Results from an exploration well located in the Sampang PSC offshore Indonesia operated by the London-listed Ophir Energy continue to indicate hydrocarbon bearing zones.
The Sampang PSC is operated by Ophir Energy’s subsidiary Santos Sampang Pty Ltd with a 45% interest with Singapore Petroleum Company (40%) and Cue Energy (15%) as its partners.
Cue informed on Tuesday that Ophir would undertake three drill stem tests (DSTs) on the Paus Biru-1 exploration well in the Sampang PSC within the primary objective Mundu Formation.
The company added that the results of the extensive wireline logging program conducted over the last week showed increased confidence in hydrocarbon presence in several zones within the formation.
The joint venture is currently preparing to start the first of three DSTs to assess the extent and productive capacity of the potential hydrocarbon bearing reservoirs seen during the logging program.
According to the company, the tests are expected to take two weeks to complete.
To remind, Ophir Energy noticed elevated gas readings last week during drilling operations on the Paus Biru-1 well.
Cue Energy’s said at the time that the well had reached a TD at a measured depth of 710 meters. The planned total depth was extended during drilling due to formation observations. Operations on the well using the COSL HYSY 937 jack-up drilling rig began in October .
