Inpex-operated Ichthys LNG project has started shipping liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the onshore gas liquefaction plant in Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory.
The first shipment of LPG loaded onto the Hellas Gladiator carrier is destined to an Asian buyer, Inpex said in its statement on Friday.
The project has already commenced shipment of condensate (ultra-light crude oil), and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
In addition to the LPG shipment commencement, Inpex held an official opening ceremony of the onshore LNG processing facilities.
Inpex stressed that approximately 70 percent of the LNG produced by Ichthys liquefied natural gas project is scheduled to be supplied to Japanese customers.
The company said that together with its partners it is working on ramping up the production. Once the peak is reached, the Ichthys LNG project will be producing approximately 8.9 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and approximately 1.65 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per year, along with approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day.
