The United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has readied a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) for the Eagle LNG Partners’ proposed Jacksonville project.
Eagle LNG intends to build and operate a liquefied natural gas facility on the north bank of St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida, capable of producing 1 million tons of the chilled fuel per year.
The facility will also include a 45,000-cbm LNG storage tank and truck loading facilities capable of loading 260 to 520 LNG trucks per year.
Feed gas would be delivered from a new 120-foot-long non-jurisdictional natural gas pipeline constructed by Peoples Gas, a unit of TECO Energy, connected to its existing local gas distribution transmission pipeline, which is immediately adjacent to the proposed terminal site.
The draft EIS assesses the potential environmental effects of the construction and operation of the Jacksonville project, FERC said in a filing.
FERC concluded that approval of the Jacksonville project would result in some limited adverse environmental impacts, however, these impacts would be reduced to less-than-significant levels with the implementation of Eagle LNG’s proposed mitigation and the additional measures.
FERC invited comments on the draft EIS to be delivered by January 7, 2019.
