The Californian Port of Redwood City yesterday announced that the dredging operations are substantially complete at wharves 1,2,3 and 4.

Dredging is necessary to keep the port open to deep water vessels and ships by removing sediment and debris from the bottom of the harbor.

According to the official release, this $1.6 million investment supports port operations, the working waterfront, economic vitality to the region and personal water recreational use in and around the Redwood Creek Channel.

Last week, the Port Commission also approved a consulting agreement to lead a strategic vision process for the port.

This process will help guide the Port Commission and the Leadership Team on developing long-term priorities for port operations and will include a stakeholder engagement process.
