Singapore-based ship management company Eastern Pacific Shipping has taken delivery of two Aframax tankers from Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction – Philippines.
Named M/V Iberian Sea and M/V Levantine Sea, the two tankers feature 114,000 in dwt each and were ordered back in 2015.
Each of the tankers, delivered last week, measures 240 meters in length, 44 meters in width and 21.35 meters in depth.
The two vessels are equipped with SOX scrubber systems aimed at complying with the upcoming sulphur regulations and fixed ballast water treatment systems (BWTS).
The newbuilds, valued at USD 43 million respectively, according to VesselsValue, are classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
Eastern Pacific Shipping expects two more tankers of the same kind to be delivered in the 1st quarter of 2019. The two Aframaxes are Caspian Sea and Tyrrhenian Sea.
What is more, at the end of October the company ordered two more tanker vessels in an en bloc deal with the Subic-based yard. Each ship is worth USD 50 million, data from VesselsValue shows. The construction of the ships is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2019 making the LR2 tankers ready for delivery in 2020.
In total, the ship management company has 21 ships on order, which also include 11 ultra large containerships being built by Hyundai Samho , two Ultramax bulk carriers, two MGC LPG carriers and two MR2 product/chemical tankers.
