Congressman Jimmy Panetta has announced the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers funding for the Santa Cruz Harbor and Moss Landing Harbor.

According to him, the Fiscal Year 2019 Work Plan provides $464,000.00 to the Santa Cruz Harbor, and $709,000.00 to the Moss Landing Harbor.

“ The Santa Cruz and Moss Landing Harbors provide our communities with economic, recreational, and educational opportunities by connecting us to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. These funds support continued maintenance and protection of the waterways ,” said Congressman Panetta . “ The funds ensure the harbor channels remain navigable through maintenance dredging operations. ”

“ Congressman Panetta has been an effective advocate for Santa Cruz Harbor, ensuring funding for critical dredging operations. Maintaining safe and navigable depths in the harbor channel ensures access for commercial fishing vessels, charter operations, marine educational programs, recreational boating and marine rescue units, including the Santa Cruz Harbor Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard, California Air National Guard and the City of Santa Cruz Fire Boat ,” said Marian Olin, Santa Cruz Port Director .

Earlier this year, Congressman Panetta secured $487,000.00 for the Santa Cruz Harbor in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Fiscal Year 2018 Work Plan. This included backpay of a $64,000.00 shortfall from Fiscal Years 2016 and 2017 that was owed to the Santa Cruz Port District from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
