Swancor has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Taipower for the Formosa 2 offshore wind farm.

The parties signed the 20-year PPA for the 376MW offshore wind farm in Taiwan.

Swancor signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Siemens Gamesa for Formosa 2 in March.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) allocated grid capacity to the project in April under the first process of its kind in Taiwan.

Formosa 2, owned by Swancor and Macquarie Capital, is expected to be built in 2020.

Swancor, Macquarie and Ørsted developed the first two operational offshore wind turbines in Taiwan, part of the 8MW Formosa 1 project. The three companies are currently working on the Formosa 1 Phase 2 , which will feature 20 Siemens Gamesa SWT-6.0-154 turbines, adding 120MW of capacity.
