Subsea services group Acteon has acquired subsea corrosion specialist Deepwater Corrosion Services Inc.

Acteon said on Wednesday that the addition of Deepwater Corrosion’s expertise and portfolio strengthens the company’s ability to help its customers to manage the integrity of critical subsea infrastructure throughout the life of a field.

Deepwater works on subsea corrosion control for all asset types, including oil and gas platforms and wind turbines.

The company operates from facilities in the USA, the UK, Brazil, Norway, and Australia. According to Acteon, Deepwater designed, built, and installed more offshore cathodic protection systems than any other company and provides corrosion investigation and subsea inspection services.

The acquisition enhances Acteon’s subsea integrity management offering. Acteon added that the acquisition added to the group’s technical knowledge of corrosion engineering, problem-solving, and retrofit solutions, and expands its capabilities in data collection, surveying, engineering analytics and repair solutions for risers, moorings, seabed foundations, and other subsea infrastructure.

Jim Britton , Deepwater president and CEO, said: “Our corrosion-control experience stretches back over 30 years.”

He added: “I am excited by the opportunity within Acteon to grow our business and to provide more integrated subsea solutions throughout the life of a field that enhances efficiency and reduces costs for our customers.”
