Helicopter provider CHC Group has been awarded the contract from OMV Norge to provide helicopter services in support of its forthcoming drilling program in production license 644 in the Norwegian Sea.
Production license 644 and its neighboring 644B contain the Iris and Hades prospects. OMV is the operator of the license with 30 percent interest. The partners in the license are Faroe, Equinor, and Spirit Energy with 20, 40, and 10 percent.
The prospects are located on the Halten Terrace, some 200 kilometers offshore in the Norwegian Sea, adjacent to the Equinor-operated producing Morvin and Asgard fields.
CHC said on Thursday that the operation would begin in the second quarter of 2019 flying to the Deepsea Bergen drilling rig from company’s base in Kristiansund.
There will be up to four flights per week using a Sikorsky S92 which reached more than one million fleet hours of service in 2016.
