Norwegian offshore vessel operator Solstad Offshore has secured a long-term contract for the Far Sleipner construction support vessel (CSV).

Solstad Offshore on Friday said that the vessel would remain with Total in Congo for two more years, under the freshly signed contract, and that Total would have four six-month option to extend.

“The vessel will function as a field support vessel (FSV) with ROV systems onboard to cover for IMR, SURF, Subsea Intervention and drilling support for Total.”

The Far Sleipner has been on a charter with Total in Congo since January 2017, under a contract awarded to Farstad which has since merged with Solstad.

The Far Sleipner was built in 2015 by Vard in its Langsten shipyard and delivered to Farstad in March of the same year. It is 142,6 meters long and 25 meters wide with a deadweight of 9,200 tonnes.

Four engines provide the vessel with a total propulsion power of 22549 BHP enabling a service speed of 12 knots. The Far Sleipner can accommodate 130 people in single cabins.
