Construction of DEME’s 2,300m³ new trailing suction hopper dredger has officially kicked off with a steel cutting ceremony at Royal IHC’s Batam shipyard in Indonesia.

The compact hopper design ensures high maneuverability and optimized dredging works, said DEME.

Built to the requirements of classification society Bureau Veritas, the vessel’s design features a shallow draught which can be deployed worldwide for projects in shallow water.

It is expected that the dredger will be delivered in the first half of 2020.
