In 2020, the REBO sites at the Port of Oostende will be used for the storage and pre-assembly of the towers, nacelles and blades, and their installation at the SeaMade construction area off the coast of Belgium.

The 487MW project, which reached financial close on 3 December, consists of two combined offshore wind farms: the 252MW Seastar, which will comprise 30 wind turbines, and the 235MW Mermaid that will have 28 wind turbines.

Immediately after financial close was reached, Siemens Gamesa announced that it had received an order for 58 of its 8MW wind turbines .

The turbines have a rotor diameter of 167m and will be installed on monopile foundations.

Offshore construction is scheduled to start in summer of 2019, while the project is expected to be commissioned before the end of 2020.

SeaMade Seastar is located 40km offshore in water depths of up to 38m, and SeaMade Mermaid is situated approximately 54km off the coast in water depths of up to approx. 40m.

The offshore wind farm will have two offshore substations connected to ELIA’s Modular Offshore Grid.
