South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) revealed today that it has won another LNG carrier order from an undisclosed owner from Oceania.

The contract is worth KRW 209 bn (USD 186 million), according to SHI.

The newbuild is set for delivery in 2021 and it brings the company’s orderbook to 46 vessels this year, including 15 LNG carriers, the company said, without disclosing further details.

The order is being announced just a day after Greek Cardiff Gas said it was ordering four 174,000 cubic meter LNG carriers , two from Samsung and two from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

Furthermore, last week SHI informed it won a contract for the construction of an LNG carrier, also from an unnamed shipowner from the Oceania region.

Under the shipbuilding contract, which has a value of KRW 211.2 billion (USD 187.9 million), the shipbuilder is scheduled to deliver the new vessel by the end of March 2021.

Samsung said that the latest order pushes its orderbook value to USD 5.7 billion.
