Scottish wave body Wave Energy Scotland (WES) is looking to appoint up to three external assessors to provide technical expertise for the evaluation of applications proceeding to the third stage of the organization’s control systems innovation program.

The assessors will be required to provide independent, impartial and expert assessment of the proposals going forward to stage 3 of WES’ control systems program , whose overall objective is to design, develop and demonstrate advanced control systems for wave energy converters, and associated subsystems.

The overall aim of the program is to deliver improvements in performance, affordability, survivability and reliability of wave energy technology.

According to the tender , published on Scottish government’s procurement portal, the selected candidates will evaluate documentation from three applications, and provide WES with analysis of the applications for the stage 3 of the control systems program.

WES has set the time limit for accepting tenders or requests to participate in the process, which expires on February 8, 2019.

Established in 2014, WES is a subsidiary of Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) , and is fully funded by the Scottish government. The organization is driving the search for innovative solutions to the technical challenges facing the wave energy sector, aiming to put Scotland at the forefront of the emerging industry.
