Marine energy developer Minesto has launched a tender for the supply of a new generator and power conversion system to support the ongoing development of its Deep Green tidal power technology.
Swedish company is moving forward with the advancement of the Deep Green technology, by progressing the development of a micro grid tidal and ocean current power plant.
The next step for Minesto is to procure the generator and power conversion system, which could potentially find its use in Faroe Islands, where the company is developing a clean energy project that will feature two of its smaller DG100 tidal energy devices, each rated at 100kW .
Therefore, Minesto is looking for a contractor with the knowledge, skills and ability to supply a concept, detailed design, and fabrication of the system power conversion system, according to the tender published on Welsh government’s procurement portal Sell2Wales.
The deadline for tender applications, or requests to participate has been set for January 25, 2019, according to the announcement, which also states the contract is expected to be awarded for 5-month period, with the potential of renewal.
To remind, Minesto intends, through the collaboration agreement with the main power utility on the Faroe Islands, SEV, to install two DG100 units, starting with the first planned for late 2019.
