South Korean shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries Group has increased its appetite for 2019 setting its orderbook target at USD 15.9 billion, up by 20.7 percent year-on-year, Yonhap reported.
Based on the report, Hyundai Heavy Industries has set sights on attaining USD 8 billion in shipbuilding segment, whereas Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard have vowed to secure USD 4.3 billion and USD 3.5 billion worth of orders each.
Thanks to improved market, Hyundai exceeded its orderbook goal for 2018 before the year ended, having won USD 13.3 billion worth of orders, beating the intitial USD 13.2 billion target.
The sipbuilder’s orderbook for 2018 is comprised of a total of 153 vessels, including 56 oil tankers, 50 containerships, 40 gas carriers, including 25 LNG carriers and 15 LPG carriers, followed by 4 bulkers, 2 frigates and one car ferry.
