Korean cable maker LS Cable & System has secured a contract to supply 170 kilometers of 66kV submarine cables to Taiwan.

The cables are for the offshore wind farm Yunlin, built by YunNeng Wind Power Company, part of the wpd group, Germany’s wind power company.

Seaway Offshore Cables , part of the Subsea 7, has been selected for the installation campaign off the shore of Yunlin County in Taiwan.

Taiwan aims to invest $23 billion for the construction of a 5.5GW offshore wind power, whereby a submarine power grid spanning more than 2,000 kilometers will be installed.

The Yunlin offshore wind farm is located approximately 8 kilometers off the coast of Yunlin County and comprises 80 wind turbine generators each with a capacity of 8 megawatt.
