The successful sea trials of Royal IHC’s trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) D11 21 DE JULIO took place during the final week of 2018, at the Montevideo Port in Uruguay.

This 4,200m³ TSHD was partly built at IHC shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel in The Netherlands.

The basic design and detailed engineering of the vessel was supplied by the IHC head office as well as the highly complex dredging parts and equipment. The overall project management was executed by the company’s Latin American organisation located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

After finishing the parts, they were then transported to Uruguay, where the rest of the TSHD was built for Administración Nacional de Puertos (ANP).

IHC signed the contract for the design, construction and delivery of the TSHD with ANP in November 2016, and the keel laying ceremony took place in October 2017, simultaneously in both countries.

This latest cooperation will further strengthen the relationship between IHC and ANP, the two companies stated. This dates back to the 1970s, with the delivery of TSHD Draga D-7, which remains part of ANP’s fleet.
