Subsea UK Unveils Subsea Expo Programme

Subsea UK has urged industry to embrace disruptive and enabling technologies to generate greater levels of transparency, efficiency, and performance.

The call was issued as Subsea UK announced the final speaker line-up and programme for its 14th annual conference and exhibition, Subsea Expo. The event will take place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre from 5-7 February 2019.

With the theme ‘Innovating the Future’, the event aims to stimulate high-level discussions on subsea technology and the rise of digitalisation. Looking at how the latest advancements in technology are accelerating the ability to deliver sustainable energy and achieve operational efficiency.

The 2019 programme is packed with high profile industry speakers from a number of companies including One Subsea, Haliburton, SubC Imaging, STATS Group, and Tracerco.

The event’s plenary session, chaired by Neil Gordon, chief executive of Subsea UK, will provide an overview of the industry and host the panel discussion which will provide an opportunity for a strong debate on a number of topics. Panel speakers include; Alasdair MacDonald, CEO of Benbecula Group and chairman of Tekmar, Colette Cohen, CEO of the Oil and Gas Technology Centre, John Mahon, director general for exports at the Department for International Trade, Mike Beveridge, managing director of Simmons Energy, and Stuart Payne, director of HR and supply chain at the Oil and Gas Authority.

Neil Gordon , chief executive of Subsea UK, said: “ There is a renewed optimism sweeping the sector. We are seeing a real willingness to learn, do things differently, build better relationships, different models, innovate, explore new technology. If we want to maintain our world leading position and create a stronger, more sustainable offshore market, we must continue to work together and drive positive change for good.

“Subsea Expo represents the ideal platform to bring together leading industry figures to discuss challenges, opportunities, ideas and solutions. A lot of work has been done over the past few years to transform the industry and lay solid foundations for a brighter future. The world is changing, and the UK subsea industry is in pole position to leverage new technology to improve operations and open up new opportunities.”

Subsea Expo’s gala dinner and awards ceremony, on the evening of February 6th, will see a selection of the country’s most innovative, dynamic and successful subsea businesses recognized for their success over the past twelve months. Former CEO of Dyson, Martin McCourt will be the guest speaker at the awards dinner, where he will discuss how he led the business from niche vacuum cleaner maker to a global brand with an extensive product line.
