US-based energy major Chevron launched earlier this week three new very large crude carriers (VLCCs) that will join the company’s global shipping fleet.

Splashed at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in South Korea, the ships in question are Houston Voyager, Pascagoula Voyager and San Ramon Voyager.

The three ships were named on January 4 and are in the process of being delivered or will be delivered soon, Chevron told World Maritime News.

The 318,000 dwt vessels feature a length of 336 meters and a width of 60 meters. Each carrier has a capacity of 2 million barrels and will trade primarily between the Arabian Gulf and the US, according to Chevron.

The tankers are part of seven identical vessels ordered by Greek shipping company Maran Tankers in 2017 and chartered to Chevron. The first two vessels from the batch, Richmond Voyager and El Segundo Voyager, were delivered to Chevron in 2017. The remaining two tankers, London Voyager and Singapore Voyager, are slated for delivery later this year, Chevron added.
