US-based energy major Chevron has shut down the third liquefaction train at its Gorgon liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant on Barrow Island in Western Australia.
Production from the third liquefaction train has been temporarily halted to address a mechanical issue, Chevron spokesperson told LNG World News in an emailed statement.
He added that the cause of the interruption is under investigation.
Production from the first two liquefaction trains continues without interruption with the project continuing to load cargoes without issues.
The facility is capable of producing 15.6 million mt/year from its three trains.
The project is operated by Chevron that owns a 47.3 percent stake, while other shareholders are ExxonMobil (25 percent), Shell (25 percent), Osaka Gas (1.25 percent), Tokyo Gas (1 percent) and Chubu Electric Power (0.417 percent).
