Leask Marine Kicks Off Tidal Platform Construction in Orkney

Leask Marine’s fabrication workshop has taken delivery of two of the largest tubular sections that they have ever received for the construction of the very first tidal platform ever to be built in Orkney. Leask Marine’s fabrication workshop has taken delivery of two of the largest tubular sections that they have ever received for the construction of the very first tidal platform ever to be built in Orkney.

Leask Marine were awarded the contract for the manufacturing and supply contract of a Surface Floating Platform by Instream Energy Systems / Corp of Canada.

The platform is being designed for Instream by a consortium led by ITPEnergised.

Leask Marine will construct, equip, and assemble the platform in Orkney ready for the arrival of the operating systems and turbines that should be delivered later this year.

Leask Marine have also been awarded the contract as the projects marine contractor and the whole project is being supported by Innovate UK’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.
