China’s offshore drilling company COSL has reportedly signed a contract for its jack-up rig COSLHunter in Mexico.

Rig brokers Bassoe Offshore on Monday reported that the Chinese rig owner had secured a one year contract in Mexico, with an undisclosed operator.
The rig, built in China Merchants Heavy Industry Shipyard in Shenzhen in 2013, is of Gusto MSC design and can operate in a water depth of 375 ft with a maximum drilling depth of 30,000 ft and can accommodate 124 people.
The rig was COSL’s first ever rig to be used in Mexico back in 2016 when it won its initial contract there with Hokchi Energy S.A. de C.V., a subsidiary of Pan American Energy LLC.
According to Bassoe Offshore, the new contract is expected to begin on March 1, 2019, and will expire on February 29, 2020. There were no details on the dayrate.
