Dredge Atlantic and Dredge Virginian, owned by Norfolk Dredging Company, are currently operating in Craighill Angle as part of maintenance dredging of the Baltimore Harbor and Channels in Maryland.

To date in the current contract, the two dredges have removed more than 1.3 million cubic yards of material, all of which was later placed on Poplar Island, an environmental restoration project located in the Chesapeake Bay in Talbot County, Maryland.

During an outing with Internal Review Chief Jessica Kaufman and Washington Aqueduct Department of the Army Intern Ha Ahn Le, onboard Norfolk’s Dredge Atlantic, January 17, 2019, Baltimore Harbor Project Manager Jeremiah Spiga, Baltimore District, explained the different types of buckets used on mechanical dredges and their varied applications.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Baltimore District has just released this beautiful photo from the visit.
