Swire Blue Ocean’s jack-up vessel Pacific Orca has installed two-thirds of a total of 84 turbines at the Beatrice offshore wind farm.

The vessel installed 56 of the 7MW Siemens Gamesa turbines last week and has 28 to go, according to Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL).

Pacific Orca installed the first unit at the site in the Outer Moray Firth, UK, in mid-July, shortly after which the 588MW wind farm delivered first power.

The turbines are loaded in sets of five at the Nigg port, Siemens Gamesa’s pre-assembly base, with the commissioning carried out immediately after installation.

BOWL, a joint venture partnership between SSE (40%), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (35%) and Red Rock Power Limited (25%), plans to have the project commissioned in spring this year.
