NorSea Wind has secured a contract for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the Sprogø offshore wind farm in Denmark.
The Norway-based company said it commenced the work on 1 January 2019, after winning the contract through a tender procedure.
According to NorSea, the contract sets a milestone for offshore wind supply as it represents one of the first where a complete O&M agreement is offered to a third party supplier.
“The competence of our employees empowers us to believe that we can save on the maintenance costs for the 7 WTGs,” said NorSea Wind CEO Dennis Jul Pedersen .
The Sprogø offshore wind farm comprises seven V90-3MW Vestas wind turbines located in the Great Belt strait between the islands of Zealand and Funen.
The 21MW project, owned by European Energy Group , was officially commissioned at the end of 2009. A crew transfer vessel (CTV) destined for the wind farm is currently being constructed by Valling Ship Solution.
