Japan’s Inpex said that the Oceanic Breeze liquefied natural gas carrier called at the Naoetsu LNG terminal in Joetsu City, for the first time on Tuesday.

The 155,300-cbm vessel transported an LNG cargo from the Inpex-operated Ichthys liquefied natural gas project in Australia, the company said in its statement.

Oceanic Breeze is jointly owned by Inpex and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) and has been deployed to transport up to 0.9 million tons of LNG per year from the Ichthys project for Inpex.

The company added that the delivery marks a “significant milestone” in its global gas value chain business development.

The facility also received the first Ichthys LNG cargo at the end of October last year.

The Ichthys LNG project near Darwin will be producing approximately 8.9 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and approximately 1.65 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per year, along with approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day.
