Ørsted, Total and Elicio are joining forces with an aim to submit a bid for the Dunkirk offshore wind project in France.
The three parties are creating an industrial consortium to submit the joint bid for a power capacity of up to 600MW.
“Our recognized offshore oil and gas know-how combined with Ørsted market-leading expertise across the offshore wind energy value chain, as well as that of Elicio, an experienced developer qualified from the beginning of the bid, provide a solid foundation for success of a safe and competitive project,” said Philippe Sauquet , President Gas, Renewables and Power at Total.
The French government launched the tender for the development and operation of the Dunkirk project in mid-November last year, following a delay of several months.
Ten potential developers had been pre-selected in May 2017, while the winner is expected to be announced by the middle of this year.
The Dunkirk project, part of the country’s third round of tenders , will have a capacity of between 400MW and 600MW. It will be installed at a 70km2 square area some 10km off the coast.
