Siemens Gamesa has entered into a partnership with the North Lindsey College for the provision of apprenticeship training in the UK.
The two parties will develop a customized program that will provide training for individuals from the UK applying for a place on the Siemens Gamesa turbine O&M technician apprenticeship.
The training will take place at Siemens Gamesa’s site in Hull, which several of the college’s engineering students visited already, North Lindsey College said.
In addition, Siemens Gamesa donated a nacelle that will be used by students at the CATCH training facility in Stallingborough.
According to the college’s principal Mick Lochran, the potential of the partnership is not only to help provide Siemens Gamesa with a workforce, but also to inspire the next generation of engineers across the region.
“We are delighted to be working with North Lindsey College to deliver this apprenticeship training,” said Carl Robb , the Head of Operations Support for Siemens Gamesa.
“In a dynamic industry, where innovation and technology can transform the sector in less time than it takes to complete an apprenticeship, it is crucial to work with organisations that can be just as agile and forward-thinking.”
Siemens Gamesa opened its Hull factory at the Alexandra Dock in December 2016 when it also officially unveiled the 75m long blade.
