Swire Blue Ocean’s jack-up vessel Pacific Orca is installing the 64th turbine of the 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm at a record location.

Swire Blue Ocean said the location holds two records for the company as it represents the furthest north spot and the deepest installation with approximately 55 meters in depth.

Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL) recently announced that Pacific Orca completed the installation of three-quarters of the Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines, while 59 have been commissioned.

The vessel is loading the units in sets of five at the Nigg port, Siemens Gamesa’s pre-assembly base, and installing them at the site in Outer Moray Firth, the UK.

Commissioning works are carried out using a combination of the walk-to-work vessel Island Crown and crew transfer vessels Fob Swath 3 and Seacat Resolute.

The 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm is scheduled to be commissioned in Spring.
