Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) has hosted a delegation of technology companies linked to the field of innovation in vertical mobility in air and sea, which participate in the “Canary Islands Future Lab” initiative.
The delegation visited the land facilities of PLOCAN in order to learn about the capabilities and the lines of action in marine robotics and autonomous platforms.
Zipline International, Wingcopter and MotionLab y DroneMasters were among the companies that visited PLOCAN.
Their interest in the “Canary Islands Future Lab” initiative is focused on the potential of linking technology sectors related to aerial and marine unmanned autonomous vehicles, distributed marine renewable energy and floating platforms, in order to improve the observation on land and sea and to enhance the critical supply lines at logistical, medical and emergency levels.
The visit was organized as part of the Future Lab Meetup, organized by Satocan/Archipielago Next and the Cabildo (Island Government) of Gran Canaria through the Society of Economic Development of Gran Canaria (SPEGC ) in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
“Canary Islands Future Lab” is a joint initiative between the London School of Economics (LSE), Satocan/Archipélago Next, the Cabildo (Island Government) of Gran Canaria through the Society of Economic Development of Gran Canaria, the Government of the Canary Islands, PLOCAN, DroneMasters and Future Lab Berlin, among other local and international partners.
The companies actively collaborate on promoting the development of technologies which are adapted to the Smart Islands, digital solutions and sustainable innovation for the Blue Economy and support to social and business projects focusing on equitable economic growth, digitalization, globalization and sustainable tourism.
