Prysmian Group has localized the issue that caused system failure of the Western Link Interconnection, consisting of two 600 kV DC submarine cables in the Irish Sea linking Ardneil (Scotland) to Wirral (England).
Following the testing and investigations executed to date, the issue, which required the system to be temporarily switched off, has been localized in the Southern land cable section.
Prysmian has already started mobilizing specialized teams on site to investigate the nature of the issue.
In parallel, Prysmian is putting actions in place to undertake the repairing in the shortest time possible and with the lowest environmental and logistic impact, the company said.
The Western Link project includes direct current subsea and underground cables.
The cable has a total length of about 387 kilometers and helps to bring renewable energy from Scotland to homes and businesses in Wales and England.
