Russian driller Eurasia Drilling Company reportedly won a contract extension for one of its four jack-up rigs.

Norwegian rig broker Bassoe Offshore has shared in its Bassoe Analytics tool that Dragon Oil has extended the contract for the Mercury jack-up rig for the use in the Caspian Sea, offshore Turkmenistan.

Offshore Energy Today has reached out to Eurasia Drilling, the owner of the rig, seeking more info and the confirmation. Eurasia Drilling confirmed that Mercury would be under contract with Dragon until the end of 2019.

Bassoe Offshore’s data shows the contract duration is 286 days, expiring at the end of the year. Bassoe did not provide an estimate on the dayrate.

The rig, of the LeTourneau Super 116E design, was delivered by Lamprell in late 2014 and has worked for Dragon oil in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea ever since.

Eurasia Drilling Company, known as one of the world’s largest land rig owners with hundreds of land rigs in its fleet, owns four offshore jack-up rigs: Astra, Saturn, Neptune, and Mercury. Bassoe Analytics (screenshot below) shows that three of the four rigs are currently on drilling contracts, with one – Astra -being cold stacked in Russia.
