SHI bags new LNG carrier order

South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries has booked a new order for a liquefied natural gas carrier.

South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries has booked a new order for a liquefied natural gas carrier.

The company said in a brief statement the order worth 215.4 billion South Korean won ($190.7 million) is from Asian shipowners without disclosing the identity.

Additionally, the delivery of the vessel is set for March 2022, SHI said without disclosing further details on the vessel.

With the inclusion of the new order, Samsung Heavy Industries has recorded seven LNG carrier orders so far this year. This amounts to a total of $1.3 billion taking a 17 percent share in total orders worth $7.8 billion.
