Colonel John Litz, USACE’s Baltimore District commander, took part at a flood resiliency workshop led by the City of Rotterdam, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, aboard Clipper Stad Amsterdam in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, March 29, 2019.

Litz and members of Baltimore District’s Planning Division joined representatives from the Netherlands, Maryland Department of the Environment, the City of Baltimore, the City of Annapolis and the United States Naval Academy, as well as other regional experts from public and private sectors to discuss climate and flood resiliency challenges and accomplishments in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

The goal of the event was to have meaningful discussions and establish a network between Maryland and the Kingdom of the Netherlands resilience experts.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been an important partner in advancing the Chesapeake Bay restoration effort through a range of legislative authorities, programmatic activities, and aquatic ecosystem restoration and construction projects.

Through its contributions, USACE has made significant measurable improvements to the health of the Chesapeake Bay and conditions across the watershed.
