Dutch provider of logistics services for subsea cables, WIND, has completed its latest full scope cable transport project with the transfer of 26 km of 155kV subsea cable in the port of Eemshaven.
The cable is for delivery to a large European TSO and will be used to connect an offshore wind farm to a substation.
Last January WIND loaded the cables with a total weight of 2,300 tons in a carousel on-board the transport vessel at the factory berth of cable manufacturer Zhongtian Technology Submarine Cable (ZTT) in Nantong, China.
The cable arrived in The Netherlands on time and was discharged by WIND directly from the transport vessel to a cable lay vessel.
“ With this cable transport project, we have successfully concluded a significant contract for ZTT ,” commented Erik Thomas , WIND commercial director. “ We look forward to working with them again .”
In addition, WIND has recently signed a long term storage agreement with an OFTO for a major European offshore wind farm.
The OFTO will make use of the WIND cable depot in Velsen-Noord, The Netherlands and all WIND storage and handling services in respect of certain types of subsea cables and related accessories, the company said.
