Seaplace and Magnomatics’ joint turbine project has been shortlisted for the EUREKA Global Project of the Year 2019.
A consortium comprising Seaplace and Magnomatics, led by Seaplace, is working on the Floating tension-tethered and self-steerable Marine-current Turbine (FTMC Turbine) project, designed to harness the energy from tidal and ocean currents.
“ We are excited to have our FTMC Turbine project shortlisted for the EUREKA Global Project of the Year 2019, ” Magnomatics wrote on its social media.
The award recognizes a project that has achieved the biggest impact within the EUREKA portfolio.
This project is co-financed by the Eurostars Program, a joint programme between EUREKA and the European Commission, which supports projects of SMEs intensive in R&D, and is monitored by CDTI in Spain and Innovate UK in United Kingdom.
The combination of a TLP-like (Tension Leg Platform) mooring and a simple floater arranged as a nozzle makes the concept feasible, Seaplace noted.
